Public suspicions lead to P lab discovery

Firearms recovered during the raid.

A cache of weapons, including a 357 Magnum Desert Eagle and a semi-automatic shotgun converted into a pistol, was discovered during police raids on Tuesday.

Matamata-Piako CIB received information about suspicious activity in the Waikato, and after getting all their ducks into a row, sprang into action.

'A number of suspicious behaviour reports from the public for an address in Morrinsville had been received, indicating the likelihood of drugs being at the address,” says a post in the Waikato Police Facebook page.

Matamata/Piako CIB were then able to gain a search warrant to the address.

The Detectives assisted by our Armed Offenders Squad, the National Clandestine Laboratory Response Team and the local Fire Crew headed to the address yesterday.

'They found that your (the public's) suspicions were well founded discovering a ‘meth lab”!

'The ‘lab' had recently been used to manufacture a significant amount of methamphetamine.

'Along with this Clandestine Laboratory, a cache of weapons was discovered including the pictured 357 Magnum Desert Eagle and a semi-automatic shotgun converted into a pistol.

'These weapons (along with others) are now off our streets, along with the removal of a meth lab and substantial cannabis grow room.”

A 52 year old man now faces a serious drug charges.

Enquiries are continuing to locate his co-offenders.
