Update 12.50pm - Emergency services are at the scene of a workplace incident near Paengaroa.

A police media spokesperson says the incident has happened on State Highway 33.

"Worksafe has been advised.

"No further details are available at this stage."

Reports are coming in of an accident in the Paengaroa area.

Several people have commented on social media saying they have heard police and fire sirens and have seen them shoot past in Te Puke.

Another person has reported that it is a forestry accident, although this has not been confirmed by police.
