Te Puke have been made to work hard for what looked a straightforward Baywide premier club cricket win over Mount Maunganui Saturday afternoon at Blake Park.

After dismissing the Mount for 117 in 44 overs they went into the innings break in confident mood, and started their chase in the same vein with openers Tai Bridgman-Raison and Blair McKenzie putting on 49 for the first wicket.

Following Bridgman-Raison's demise with his side's top score of 31 six more Te Puke wickets tumbled as they inched to the modest target, reaching 121-7 in the 42nd over to take a three wicket win.

New recruit Dominic Crombie with 28 was top scorer for Mt Maunganui in their mediocre batting effort.

Speedster Cameron Riley was chief destroyer for Te Puke with 4 for 29 of his 10 overs.

Mount and Bay of Plenty stalwart Peter Drysdale was the man to put the jitters into the Te Puke batsmen, and come close to stealing an unlikely win for his side with a miserly four-wicket cameo late in the innings. He finished with 4 for 12 off 10 overs.
