Cordons removed after AOS in Bellevue

UPDATE: 4.50pm: Police cordons have now been removed following an operationin Bellevue this afternoon.

The Armed Offenders Squad was spotted in the area at about 4pm.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline queried if shots had been fired but Senior Sergeant Courtney Brunt says it was a distraction device.

'This was used in the course of police clearing an address during a routine search warrant,” says Courtney.

'The police operation has now concluded and all the cordons have been stood down.”

The Armed Offenders Squad have been spotted in Bellevue this afternoon.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE newsroom says she cannot get through the area as it is cordoned off.

'There are at least four police cars,” she says.

'I rung my friend who lives nearby and she said that she could see people running around who are armed.”
