Police are on the hunt for a driver who failed to stop for officers earlier this morning.

A SunLive reader messaged about 4am saying 'it sounded like every cop in the Bay of Plenty had their sirens on, heading from Papamoa to the Mount”.

A police spokesperson says a person reported seeing someone that was wanted by police.

'The person did not stop when signalled to do so by police.

'My understanding is that police initially pursued the vehicle but later abandoned.”

Enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver.
