One person has been arrested after police uncovered items possibly linked to drug manufacturing at a Waikato property.

A scene guard remained at the rural property in Morrinsville overnight on Sunday .

Police, firefighters and members of the Armed Offenders Squad were seen searching the property on Horrell Rd for most of Sunday evening.

Police had found items that "may be linked to drug manufacturing", says a police spokesperson.

Emergency services were called out to the property at 5.45pm on Sunday.

A Horrell Rd resident, who didn't want to be named, says "armed cops and dogs" had honed in on one of the original farm houses, which had been sold a few years earlier.

"Police crashed the gate with their bullbars.

"We don't tend to get much crime out here, so this is a little concerning."

He says the road, lined with 10 acre blocks of land used for grazing and crops, was blocked at both ends.
