Royals to shine spotlight on BOP attraction

Founders of the Redwoods Treewalk in Rotorua believe an upcoming visit from the Royal couple will put the Bay of Plenty attraction on a 'global stage'.

Redwoods Treewalk Co-founder Bruce Thomasen says he is 'absolutely thrilled' the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit the attraction during their day in Rotorua on Wednesday October 31.

'We feel privileged at this chance to share our special place with them,” says Bruce.

'We understand that the Duke and Duchess have a special interest in conservation and the Treewalk provides a truly unique perspective of the Whakarewarewa Forest and its flora and fauna.

'It also showcases the sort of design and innovation that New Zealand has become known for through its David Trubridge features.

'The Royal visit will put Rotorua and New Zealand on a global stage and we are truly proud to play a small part in their itinerary.”

He says the royal visit caps off a 'remarkable” year of successes and developments at Redwoods Treewalk, which includes being named in The New York Times' Top 52 Places to Visit list.

The Duke and Duchess will arrive in New Zealand on Sunday October 28 after attending the Invictus Games in Sydney and visiting Fiji and Tonga. In New Zealand they will visit Wellington, Abel Tasman National Park, Auckland and Rotorua.
