One arrested following Tauriko pursuit

The alleged driver of a stolen vehicle has been arrested following a pursuit near Tauriko on Friday evening.

A police media spokesperson says the chase was initiated when a person, driving a stolen vehicle failed to stop for Police on SH29 at around 5.50pm.

“A pursuit was initiated but abandoned for safety reasons almost straight away.

“The vehicle then crashed into another vehicle near Cambridge Road.

“The driver of the vehicle that had been crashed into received minor injuries.

“The fleeing driver attempted to run off on foot but was arrested.”
