The man charged over a number of indecent assaults at a Young Labour summer camp in Waihi will keep his name secret.

In the Auckland District Court on Tuesday afternoon, the 20-year-old man was granted continued interim name suppression.

Judge Collins said naming the man could prejudice his rights to a fair trial.

He said the matter had already been the subject of an extremely high level of media coverage and comment.

The man has previously denied six charges of assaulting four victims, believed to be aged 16 to 18.

He has elected a trial by jury.

He has been remanded on bail until his next court appearance, next week.

Teenagers had reported the assaults happened at an evening party at the Young Labour camp in Waihi in February.

The man was arrested on 26 June.

After the alleged incidents, Labour ordered an independent review of how it handled the complaints.

The party has received the final review report and said it would implement all of its recommendations.

However, it said the report would not be released, as the matter was still before the courts.
