When you think of balloon twisting you think of the classic balloon poodle.
But Donna Marie also known as Donna Dancealot is changing the way that we think and create balloon art.
Owning and operating BDazzledNZ Balloons, a balloon business right here in Tauranga, Donna just got back from Sydney, Australia where she placed second at the OZ Jam balloon convention, where she was also an ambassador.
She created a table centre piece, with her design the New Zealand Koru earning her second place.
After her time in Sydney she travelled to Noosa, where friends of hers decided to get married.
The trend of weddings these days are the classic outdoors with a trendy bohemian look, with lots of flowers and greenery.
But this wedding was different. It was made entirely out of balloons, from the scenery around the venue to the wedding dress.
'It took us two, 13 hour days to create all of the different balloon sculptures for the wedding,” says Donna. 'And we used over 100,000 balloons to make the enchanted forest.”
'There was five of us from New Zealand and we all worked on creating the fairy critter garden. There were 20 people from America and Europe, with some of them being really big names within the balloon industry and then there were quite a lot of Aussies as well. Then there were also volunteers that were helping as well.”

Donna says that it is something you don't get to see very often.
'The story behind it was they had to find different pieces of things from each forest and then a centaur made their rings.”
'You would walk through a cave and you would walk out into this fairy critter garden, then you would walk through the dark forest and there was a tree of life in the middle which was amazing. They had a huge big waterfall with a flying Pegasus and they had a huge big flower garden.”
'They got married on the stage which was under all these flower arches and the designers also made the wedding dress and the four bridesmaids and little flower girls dresses as well.”
