A crash on State Highway 2 is expected to cause some traffic delays this morning.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says a car has gone into the rear-end of another car on the northern side of the Wairoa Bridge.

Another car is reported to have gone down a bank,

"There doesn't appear to be any injuries. Fire is at the scene and one lane is blocked.

"Police have just arrived. It's going to cause some traffic delays."

A police spokesperson says police were called at 8.20am to a crash between two cars on the Tauranga side of the Wairoa Bridge.

"One car had gone into a ditch. Everyone was out of the cars and walking around and an ambulance wasn't needed. It doesn't sound like the road was blocked for very long either."

This is the second crash on the highway this morning.

Emergency services were called to a two vehicle crash on SH2, near Whakamarama, at 6.45am.

Went to listen to MP Shane Jones speak at a Tauranga meeting this week.Wanted to hear all about his $3 BILLION spending for the regions..... He started off by telling us that his flight to Tauranga had been cancelled because of weather conditions and so HE TRAVELLED HERE BY CAR and was honest enough to report THAT EVERYTHING HE HAD HEARD ABOUT SH 2 was totally TRUE. Perhaps "God" stepped in to make a point !!!
