Police are making enquiries after another money box was stolen from a Tauranga bus.
The incident happened on Friday August 24, around 5pm at the Grenada Street bus stop, the same bus stop where a money box was previously stolen earlier this year.
A police spokesperson says a male passenger ran from the back of the bus, snatched the box and then ran from the vehicle.
'A male passenger on the bus gave chase but did not manage to catch up with the offender.”
A bay hopper bus driver who doesn't want to be named says robbery in the area seems to be ramping up, especially in dairy's, petrol stations and now buses.
'The offender took anywhere from $100 to $120.”
The bus driver is also worried about the lack of cameras on the buses.
'There are no cameras on the busses so when something like this happens, it is our word and description to the police. If we had cameras it would make it easier to identify these guys and it would also hopefully stop people stealing from us or at least keep us a bit safer.”

Why not bolt the money box down? Maybe a chain stopping it from being pinched??
