A 52-year-old hunter has been rescued after falling 15 metres onto a rocky ledge in the Tarawera Forest, about 15km from Kawerau, yesterday.
"Ambulance, police and Whakatane LandSAR responded around 4pm, however steep terrain hampered rescue efforts," says Constable John Fredericksen
The man was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital by the Whangarei Rescue Helicopter about 11.40pm.
He remains in a stable condition.
