Back-to-back emergency transport missions for the TrustPower TECT Rescue Helicopter yesterday kept the flight crews busy.
The first mission was to transport a man from Whakatane Hospital with a serious medical condition to Waikato Hospital for specialist treatment.
"As soon as the rescue helicopter arrived at Waikato it was immediately re-tasked to return to Whakatane Hospital to airlift a young boy who had suffered a head injury," says a TrustPower TECT Rescue Helicopter member.
Both the boy and his mum were flown to Waikato Hospital.
The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched for a motor vehicle accident near the township of Tokaanu at 7pm on Friday, June 1.
The Taupo-based Greenlea Rescue Helicopter was also dispatched to the scene.
A 22-year-old male has sustained multiple serious injuries after he was ejected from the vehicle that collided with a power-pole after leaving the road.
The man was stablised at the scene before being flown to Waikato Hospital for treatment.
