Combine museum with art gallery

I, like many others, do not want a museum in Tauranga until all core services are at a respectable level to what other councils offer.

In the voting, I ticked no for a museum, but I did tick a location, because in the event of there being more yes votes than no votes, I wanted to have a say in the location. A 'no' vote is a 'no' vote and therefore should be counted!

Councillors like Baldock have no idea how Tauranga citizens think. The referendum was misleading. It should have said "if you ticked yes to wanting a museum, where would you support one being put", not just "do you want a museum" and "which location ".

I have no idea why they are still trying to push for Cliff Road because it is out of the way.

The museum should not be ratepayer funded! I have only ever visited the art gallery once. If TCC is so desperate for a museum, why don't they put the art gallery and museum into one space? The historic data on visitors to the art gallery can be used to see how many more visitors they receive once the 'museum' is included. If there is an increase we could re-start the debate.

And for the people who just ticked 'no' for a museum, but nothing for location....those votes were not counted were they Mr Baldock?

However the scheme of TCC is to expand, that means "MORE" not merge and same or god forbid less. Wash your mouth out!!!!!

...at an 'official' level and in response to the comment of Captain Sensible, were the votes of 'NO' to a museum and no response to 'where' (because it is irrelevant.....) counted or not?...I did so in response to the very biased (in my view) questions...has democracy actually..or just been seen to be done?...who will say with absolute honesty and accuracy please?

TCC have confirmed that all votes that only had the one tick for 'No' museum, and no ticks for preferred location were null and void. Basically on the form, if it did not have three ticks, the votes were not counted. Yes, a dishonestly worded referendum to try to trick the people that don't agree with the museum fiasco. Shame on TCC for trying those dishonest tactics.I agree with you....why vote on a locality when you have already voted no. This is the type of Council we are dealing with.

So right Groutby

And no indication beforehand that ignoring the location options would void your vote. Can I be forgiven for thinking that this whole exercise appears to have been manipulated right from the get -go? A pity that the master plan has been overturned by the ratepayers, an even greater pity that there are those who still want to push their particular barrows to get the master plan back on track.
