The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Matakana Island on Saturday, for a man in his 60s who was knocked to the ground and suffered a concussion and fractured leg during a sports match.
Due to the remote location, the rescue helicopter flew to the scene with two paramedics on-board.
The man was treated at the scene before being flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.
The return flight was aided with the use of night vision goggles.
