Guarantor for council credit card

I have been reading through the local candidates' profiles for the election of a new councillor at large. Again, there are lots of councillors stating vague intentions if they are elected. For example, using words and phrases without any qualitative and quantitative expansion such as sustainable investment, revitalisation, passion, disappointed (a range of meaning from saddened through to devastated often used as a cop-out word to qualify a disastrous failure by management), severely reduced, transparency, reduce debt, resilient communities, relentless progress, careful planning, etc.

On the other hand Messrs Stanley and Faulkner shoot from the hip with statements such as rates increased by 90 per cent over 10 years (and ongoing). Rates capped to no more than inflation. No support for a museum (also supported by Robinson) and other building projects such as growing the city centre.

The council is in a manic phase of spending on unnecessary things and ratepayers should understand they are the guarantor for the council's credit card. Please note the Kaipara ratepayer revolt and judge's decision.
