Person thrown from vehicle in crash

A person was thrown from a vehicle following a serious crash in Matamata.

Emergency services were notified at 10.25pm of the single-vehicle crash on Morgan Road, west of the town.

"The two passengers were seriously injured, and the rear passenger was ejected from the vehicle," says a statement from police.

"The driver was not injured."

The injured patients were transported to Waikato Hospital.

The road was closed until just after 2am for a scene examination.

"The Serious Crash Unit is investigating."
