Man falls head-first off two-metre wall

A man has been flown to hospital with serious injuries to his face and head after falling two-metres off a wall.

The man in his 40s plummeted to the ground at 11.39pm on Saturday, landing on his head.

The Westpac Auckland Rescue Helicopter arrived at the scene in Waihi to find the man with serious facial injuries, says spokesman Lincoln Davies.

He suspected the man was a visitor to the area.

The man was flown to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.

Earlier on Saturday, the helicopter was sent to a walking track, near Coromandel township, to a local man in his 50s who had broken his leg.

The man was winched out at 1.34pm and taken to Thames Hospital via road ambulance.

The helicopter was called due to difficulty accessing the man, says Lincoln.

He understood the incident occurred on the Harray Track.
