St John gets $48,000 boost

St John Midland region has received over $48,000 from the NZ Lottery Grants Board, toward the purchase of handheld portable radios, an Advanced Cardiac Life Support training manikin and to boost volunteer youth leader training and development.

Regional CEO for St John Midland region Eddie Jackson says as a charitable organisation St John is dependant on grants like these.
'The benefit of reliable and efficient equipment and high quality training for staff and volunteers means we are able to maintain the highest standards in patient care and comfort whilst assisting us in our objective of saving lives”.
St John will use the portable radios for improving safety at large public events, while the ACLS training manikin will be used by the Mount Maunganui and Tauranga ambulance stations where ambulance officers have been eagerly awaiting a training aid like this.
The funding will also be used for the St John Youth programme, which creates positive experiences for young people, namely, safety, belonging, self worth and self discovery and assisting the 120 youth volunteers in the Midland region in training and participation in the youth programme.
