Mount fan takes $50,000 Tui catch

Not much went right for the Black Caps in the second one-day international in Mount Maunganui, but one lucky fan is $50,000 better off.

Spectator Rob Ferrari became the fourth person this home summer to snaffle a one-handed catch as part of the Tui Catch a Million competition on Wednesday.

He reached over the hoarding on the bank and pocketed the catch reverse-cupped with his right hand.

The fan had English batsman Jos Buttler to thank, blasting a six off stand-in skipper Tim Southee in the third to last over of England's run chase.

England eased to a six wicket win in Mount Maunganui, levelling the best of five ODI series at 1-1.

The other $50,000 Tui catches have been taken at New Zealand limited overs matches in Dunedin, Hamilton and Auckland.

Dunedin builder Craig Dougherty was the first to become $50,000 richer, taking a one-hander in the one-day international against Pakistan on January 13.

Wintec accountancy lecturer Rudi Bosman became the third winner during the T20 tri-series match against England at Hamilton's Seddon Park on February 18,

Barely 48 hours earlier, Victoria University student Mitchell Grimstone, 20, hit the jackpot with a catch at Eden Park during the match against Australia.

The third ODI against England is in Wellington on Saturday.
