Woman injured slipping on rocks

The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to two jobs yesterday.

An elderly woman suffered multiple injuries after slipping on some rocks while tramping near Ngamuwahine Camp.

The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched yesterday to extract her from the location via the Port Of Tauranga Rescue Winch.

A spokesperson says the 71-year-old suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured elbow and was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital for treatment.

“Early that day, the rescue helicopter had been tasked to transport a 30-year-old male from Tauranga Hospital, who had suffered a serious injury to his hand.

“He was flown to Waikato Hospital for special treatment.”
