Boat capsizes in Tauranga Harbour

UPDATED: Three people were tossed into the water when a boat capsized in the Tauranga Harbour.

Police were called to reports of a capsized boat at 5.24pm.

A police spokesperson told SunLive a boat capsized at the entrance to the port and three people in the water.

"They made it to shore. An IRB was deployed."

EARLIER:

Reports are coming in of a boat possibly overturned in the Tauranga Harbour entrance.

A reporter who is at Pilot Bay says police are at the base of Mauao following up on the reports.

He says an IRB from the surf club has also been sent out to check on what is happening.
