The driver of a logging truck has escaped injuries after its trailer rolled on State Highway 2, near Otamarakau this morning.

A police media spokesperson says emergency services were called to a number of incidents across the Bay of Plenty.

'At 8.04am, the trailer of a logging truck rolled on State Highway 2, between Mimiha and Pikowai roads. The front of truck remained upright.

'Logs went onto the road and a crane was required to move the truck so the road was closed and diversions were put in place.

'No injuries were sustained and both lanes were reopened by 10:05am.”

Following this, a crash was also reported in Mount Maunganui.

'Two cars collided at the intersection of Heath Street and Maunganui Road just after 9am.

...for everyone, there did not happen to be other traffic either at the time of this logging truck crash or the fruit truck failing to take a bend in the Karangahake gorge. The latter would not have been survivable.
