Cleaver threat lockdown

A 15 year old boy alleged to have taken a meat cleaver into the grounds of Otumoetai Intermediate on Tuesday is to appear before a Judge today.
The boy is alleged to have threatened students at the school yesterday, triggering a lockdown until he was arrested.

Otumoetai Intermediate.

'The threats seem to have been more of a general nature,” says Tauranga senior sergeant Ross Bielby.
The 15 year old is charged with possessing a knife and breaching his bail. He is on a 24 hour curfew and not permitted to leave his residence without an escort.
The incident happened at lunchtime, Tuesday. School pupils were kept in their classrooms until after his arrest. The arrest was by uniformed police says Ross. It was not an armed offenders incident.
