Most of the Mauao base track is expected to be re-opened today after it was closed by a slip on Saturday.

The slip forced to closure of the track in the afternoon to allow council to assess the damage.

The slip site itself near North West rock on the Matakana side of the mountain, will remain closed while the debris is cleared, says the Tauranga City Council.

The full loop is expected to be open again by this weekend.
