During the NZCT AIMS, SunLive will show a daily diary to keep you up-to-date with the event progress.

Organiser Vicki Semple says the first day was a great success with more than 2000 people attending the much anticipated cross country race at Waipuna Park where Bay of Plenty schools took the gold medal in both the Year 7 and 8 girls' events.

Competitors will be out on Blake Park today for the first round of the boys' and girls' football event, while the TECT Arena at Baypark will host the basketball.

Today is also the first round of the netball at Harbourside Netball Centre and the hockey events at the Tauranga Hockey Centre and Bethlehem College.
