An unhappy meal

Police say a Papamoa McDonald's employee was nearly dragged from a drive-thru window by an intoxicated man who tried to place his order while on foot.
The 20 year old student from Papamoa was with another 18 year old Papamoa man when the incident occurred at about 6.15pm on Saturday night.

Sergeant Mark Pakes from Papamoa police says both men were heavily intoxicated when they tried to walk through the McDonald's drive-thru.
He says the pair hurled abuse at the McDonald's employee when they were refused service.
The 20 year old man also started to complain to McDonald's staff about the Chinese takeaways he had in his possession and then threw the Chinese food at the drive-thru attendant, says Mark.
He says the man then tried to drag the male employee out through the window, ripping his shirt in the process, but failed to haul him all the way out. The man was not injured.
While the alleged assault was occurring, Mark says the 18 year old man left the drive-thru and tried to steal a nearby vehicle.
The 20 year old has been charged with disorderly behaviour and assault and the 18 year old has been charged with disorderly behaviour, possession of a knife and unlawfully getting into a motor vehicle.
Both men are due to appear in Tauranga District Court on Thursday.
