Tauranga road closed following crash

Both vehicles in the crash sustained significant frontal damage.

UPDATED 8.43AM: One person is in a serious condition after a car and light truck crashed on Windsor Road, in Bellevue, this morning.

Another person has sustained moderate injuries following the crash just before 8am.

Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles, says a statement from police.

The crash happened between Canberra Place and Anne Road.

'Police have closed Windsor road between Anne Road and Sherwood Street, and say the street will be closed for at least an hour.”

Otumoetai College students are advised to go around the crash site, by taking Brookfield Terrace and then going down Otumoetai Road. Bellevue road is closed at Windsor

'Once they get her parking is fine,” says a college spokesperson.

UPDATED: Students travelling to Otumoetai College are being asked to use an alternative route following a two vehicle crash on Windsor Road this morning.

Traffic coming from Bellevue Road is being diverted down Sherwood St as the road is completely blocked.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says they are stopping Otumoetai College students from walking through the scene, so they will have to be dropped off at the northern end of Windsor Road.

"The road is blocked between Anne Road and Canberra Place, so students will have to be dropped off near Princess Road."

Ian says police are working to get the road open as soon as possible.

Windsor Road in Bellevue is blocked this morning following a crash between a truck and car.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says two people appear to be trapped in seperate vehicles.

"The road is completely blocked just past the Otumoetai Tennis Club."

Emergency services are at the scene and people are being asked to use an alternative route.
