Work to remove trees in Onemana which were destroyed in the bad weather that hit the Coromandel recently, will start next week.

A Thames-Coromandel District Council spokesperson says the trees in Onemana Drive will be cut down and chipped on-site before being taken away.

'The broken timber platform around the storm water ponds will also be removed from the site next week. We were fortunate that the supporting steel structure is intact so doesn't need any repair work

'Meanwhile, the design drawings for the new timber platform will also be issued next week for review and action, along with the design drawings for geotechnical remediation work.”

All of the demolition and construction work is being carried out by council approved contractors, and health and safety management will be in place before work starts.

Infrastructure Manager Bruce Hinson says TCDC is doing its best to clear up the slip and deal with the remediation work as soon as possible.

'We ask for the community's patience during this time and we'll continue to provide regular updates on the work.”
