Omokoroa Point School's annual Harbourside Carnival proved popular yesterday, with young and old turning out to support the school.
The aim of the day, aside from providing food and entertainment, was fundraising to purchase a new sunshade.
'At the moment the junior outside area isn't covered, so we want to cover it so it can be used all year round, says PTA chairperson Sarah Aldridge.
She adds the turnout was ‘amazing'.
'There were lots and lots of people, all the stalls are busy, and everyone was happy because it was so hot.”
Popular features included auctions with a multitude of prizes, as well as they food, clothing, and book stalls.
One of the ladies from the food court was even up half the night cooking nacho mince for the cause.
Sarah says the carnival has been going for three years now, and is all thanks to the hard work of volunteers and sponsors.
'It's a good community event, everyone comes out to support the school. Our sponsors are amazing – without them, we couldn't do this.”
