Breaking news – Parliament passed emergency legislation overnight putting an end to daylight savings due to fears of late employees sinking the economy on Monday.

Ok, yes, a terrible attempt at an April Fools. But what isn't a joke are the awesome events taking place in and around the city today, like Paradox Live at Edgewater Fan in the Tauranga CBD kicking off just before midday.

This week saw the city explode into life and colour with the inaugural Paradox: Tauranga Street Art Festival which is brightening up the lives of locals until June 15.

In celebration of the festival's first weekend, Paradox Live is offering up tremendous live Kiwi music from Troy Kingi, Bailey Wiley and some the finest students of Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology for free down by the waterfront in the Tauranga CBD from 11am-3pm.

Musician and actor Troy Kingi, of Te Arawa, Nga Puhi and Te Whanau-a-Apanui descent, is best known for his role as TK in Taika Waititi's film Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Taking to music at a young age, Troy's a master on the guitar, drums, bass, keys and countless other instruments.

While Hawera-born singer/songwriter Bailey Wiley began singing at six, and her golden soul voice made waves across the country. She's already shared the stage with some industry big names and now she's in towm to join The Troy Kingi Band on stage and entertain the crowds.

Along with great music, there'll also be interactive artwork, food and beverage stalls hosted by The Little Big Markets, plus a licensed area managed by Paradox supporter Mount Brewing Co.

While Paradox Live takes place, The Strand from Devonport Road to Harrington Street, and Wharf Street from Willow Street to The Strand will be closed today from 9am until 5pm.

Visitors can park all day free in either the Spring Street or Elizabeth Street parking buildings or on off-street car parks. Bay Hopper buses will be running as usual and provide an easy access to the city centre from all suburbs.

And don't forget, daylight savings is coming to an end tonight so put your clocks back an hour when you go to bed. Or is it forward? I can never remember.
