Ex-cyclone's remnants may affect NZ

Weatherwatch.co.nz meteorologist Philip Duncan.

Weather forecasters are predicting remnants of ex-cyclone Debbie to affect NZ next week.

Ex-cyclone Debbie unleased a torrent of rain over Queensland with half a metre (500mm) expected as the weather system moved over the country.

Weatherwatch.co.nz says the low weakened considerably in the last 48 hours, then drifted out into the Tasman Sea.

Next week the remnants may organise themselves into a deeper low with heavy, sub-tropical, rain over the North Island.

Rainfall amounts next week could be considerable.

Philip Duncan has the latest from the Weatherwatch.co.nz new web studio below.
