A Tauranga based business has secured a contract worth about $1 million to help in the upgrading of Auckland's Eden Park for the Rugby World Cup in 2011.
GartShore Group, a Tauranga construction and commercial interiors company, will be working alongside Auckland company Aspec Ltd for the interior works to stage one of the park's redevelopment project.

Gartshore commercial manager Brian Gibbons says the contract is initially around the one million dollar mark, but as the entire Eden Park redevelopment progresses there may be opportunities for Gartshore to expand its involvement and be awarded additional work.
The first stage of the project is work on the South stand, spearheaded by principal contractor Fletcher Construction. Brian says Gartshore has already commenced some manufacturing work on this initial project. The upgrades to be completed on the South stand include building of 50 corporate boxes, team dressing rooms, receptions, media rooms, lounges and bars and restaurants.
Brian says this contract is an exciting prospect for Gartshore.
'It's significant as it represents a considerable opportunity for us which is important given the current economy.”
The contract may also lead to some job creation at Gartshore.
'The nucleus of the business is in place and working well and is a good basis with good potential to be looking at possibly expanding.”
Brian says the contract was secured because the Eden Park project managers were interested in Gartshore's ability to meet the time frame requirements so well. He expects to be able to complete the work in about seven months; keeping the overall project well on track for a planned deadline at the end of 2010.
