The Desert Road is now open following a serious crash which forced police to close the state highway for about four hours.
A total of eight people were injured in the crash, which happened around 4pm.
'Police can now confirm that eight people were taken to hospital - six were flown to hospital by helicopter and two were transported by road ambulance,” says a statement from police.
'Due to damage on the road as a result of the crash, there will be ongoing delays while repairs are made.”
The Serious Crash Unit are investigating.
