Recent legislation changes affecting the building and planning industries will be discussed during a series of stakeholder meetings taking place across the Coromandel this month.

Three meetings have been planned and will take place in Thames on February 14, Whangamata on February 21, and then Whitianga on February 28, with each meeting running from 5pm-6:30pm.

Thames-Coromandel District Council building manager Corinne Hamlin says these upcoming meeting are for builders, developers, planners, architects, designers, real estate agents, DIYers, or anyone with an interest in what's going on in the building and planning industries.

'In this Building and Planning roadshow we're going to focus on how to improve the quality of resource and building consent applications to reduce the number of rejections and requests for further information.

'We'll have an update on new legislation of interest to stakeholders, for example the recent Building (Pools) Amendment Act 2016.”

Corinne says they'll also be sharing some statistics and behind-the-scenes information from council's building and planning teams which will give attendees an additional sense of what's happening in these particular areas on the Coromandel.

'This is a good opportunity to chat with members of our Building and Planning teams about the issues that affect you.”

And as an added bonus – refreshments will be available at all three meetings, including beer, coffee, tea and savouries.

Corrine says if you have any inquiries or questions about the meeting email TCDC's Customer Service team or phone 07 868 0200.

To RSVP your attendance email Sharon Campbell and be sure to say which of the three meetings you will be attending so we make sure we have enough refreshments on hand.
