Guilty verdict on robbery charges

A man who was charged with robbing two stores in the Western Bay of Plenty at gun point has been found guilty by jury.

Rotorua man Desmond Galvin-Taikato allegedly robbed the Te Puke Jewellers and the Katikati Post Shop, along with two other men.

His co-accused Harley Adlam was discharged by Judge Robert Wolff, after the completion of the pair's trial this week.

Galvin-Taikato was found guilty for his role in the armed robberies in 2009.

Detective Senior Sergeant Glenn Turner says the three offenders were armed with a sawn off shotgun and stole a small amount of cash.

Alleged co-offenders Hare Tawhiti Rex Maney and Rehua Rakapa Ferris were found guilty for their part in the crime in 2009.
