The hours which the Thames Library provides free wifi will be restricted following a rise in the number of incidents in Rotary Park requiring police intervention.

Police identified the free wifi as a contributing factor in the rise of incidents and the library will no longer provide the service between the hours of 7pm and 7am daily from Monday, December 12.

'We believe the majority of users appreciate this service and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause,” says a Thames-Coromandel District Council spokesperson.

The decision to restrict the wifi hours was made following a meeting between police, council staff and contractors recently.
