The votes are in!

The preliminary election results are in for Whakatane District Council, with Tony Bonne leading the votes with 3011.

Doug Mclean received the next highest number of votes with 2725 and Julie Jukes with 1521.

George Johnston is leading votes for the Rangitaiki ward with 1622 votes, followed by Gerard van Beek (1586 votes) and Russell Orr (1451 votes).

Judy Turner leads votes for the Whakatane-Ohope ward with 3585 votes, followed by Mike van der Boom (2633 votes), Julie Jukes (2618 votes), Scott Jarrett (2523 votes) and Nandor Tanczos (2364 votes).

Andrew Iles is leading votes for Taneatua-Waimana ward with 358 votes, with Alison Silcock leading the Galatea-Murupara ward with 256 votes.

Candidates voted for the Rangitaiki community board are Charelle Stevenson (1344 votes), Alison Clark (1339 votes), Kris Byrne (1284 votes), Graeme Bourk (1230 votes) Evan Harvey (1173 votes) and Gavin Dennis (1124 votes).

Ormond Hynes (146 votes), Mem Jenner (142 votes) and Carolyn Meihana (136 votes) are voted for the Murupara subdivision of the Murupara community board.

Voted on the Whakatane-Ohope community board are Christine Chambers (2884 votes), Kay Boreham (2320 votes) Gerard Casey (2202 votes), Neville Delahunty (2013 votes), Carolyn Hamill (1949 votes), Mark Inman (1922 votes), Moira Hanna (1829 votes) and Tony Hall (1757 votes).
