The Thames-Coromandel District Council is reminding the community that applications for its 2016-17 Major Events Sponsorship Fund closes this Friday.
All organisations that are planning to run major events that will boost economic growth and bring domestic and international tourists to the Coromandel could be eligible for a major events Grants.

Previous grant recipients include a wide range of events such as the K2 Cycle Race, the Mercury Bay Music Festival, the Illume Festival, Thunderbeach, Mindsports and Brits at the Beach.
Council says the grants, which are available on a multi-year basis (2016/17 and 2017/18 financial years), are designed to support major iconic events which fall outside the peak holiday season from December 15 to January 31.
'Funding is not available to individuals, and the Major Events Fund is not for the payment of wages or honorariums,” adds council.
'To help develop your application, we recommend you read the Major Events criteria on our website. Please also refer to our Events Manual for handy tips and hints on how to make a success of your event on the Coromandel.”
To apply for a grant organisations must complete an application form and either post it to the Thames-Coromandel District Council or email them to [email protected]
All applications must include a cover letter, application form and supporting business case/marketing plan, and must be received by council before 5pm on Friday, August 5.
