Works for Coromandel-Colville

The local council has big plans for Coromandel-Colville and is rolling out information on this to let residents know what's about to go down over the next year.

The work programme for the 2016/17 financial year and information on projects are in the works for the Coromandel-Colville area will be disclosed on 12 April at the council's Coromandel service centre, 55 Kapanga Rd on Tuesday, 12 April, from 12-1pm after the meeting of the Coromandel-Colville Community Board meeting.

The work programme being put together right now forms the Annual Plan.

Recent legislation means that if there are no significant or material differences in a proposed Annual Plan from what was projected in our Long Term Plan, there is no requirement for formal consultation.

But council would still like to get feedback on this, so Tuesday is a chance to meet with Community Board members and council staff to discuss projects and budgets.

Here's some of what's in store for the Coromandel-Colville area:

Proceeding as indicated:

• Coromandel Sportsville (conditional upon approval of business case)

• Consent renewal for water supply - Karaka (District project)

Proceeding, with some changes:

• Coromandel Harbour Facilities increased to $160,000 (District project) www.tcdc.govt.nz/coroharbourproject

New projects:

• Coromandel Oamaru boat ramp renewals: $52,000

• Coromandel Charter Fishing Customer 'park and ride' car park - Te Kouma: $64,000

Removed from 2016-17:

• Furey's Creek dredging

• Sugarloaf reclamation expansion resource consent (District project)

This means an average rates increase of around 2 per cent for the 2016-2017 financial year, which is less than the 2.61 per cent projected for Year 2 of our Long Term Plan (LTP) 2015-2025.
