The old vinyl records are turning out to be a big drawcard at this year's Easter Book Sale, organised by Rotary at the Seeka Coolstore, Harvard Way, Mount Maunganui.
Punters were lining up before 7 am this morning, eager to get in, says Ann Pritchard of Rotary. At some stage the queue was winding its way around the next building.

'As soon as they come in the door they say, ‘Where are the vinyls' and they are moving very fast.” Luckily there are plenty of records available. In fact there is plenty of everything.
Ann estimates there are at least 50,000 books. 'We haven't counted them though.”
Up front it is hard to guess how many of the tens of thousands of items will change hands this weekend, she says.
Over the years the sale has grown and grown and attracted more and more people as buyers.
The 29th book sale was a mammouth effort on behalf of many Rotarians, their spouses and friends who donated time to sort the books, set up the sale room and are today on hand to help buyers.
As many as 48 people helped with the set-up and today there are 45 volunteers.
Money raised from book sales is destined for various charities. 'Our depots nominate a charity each and then there are the organisations we sponsor as Rotary and that includes disaster relief.”
At the book sale you can also help Rotary with their campaign against polio. 'For every dollar we collect Bill Gates will give us two,” says Ann. Polio is almost eradicated in the world and with enough money it can gone for good.
The book sale is on today, tomorrow and Monday from 9 am to 4.30 pm.
