Blake Park to host cricket final

It'll be the biggest day of the year for Western Bay Cricket with the Reserve and B Grade Championship Finals being fought out at Blake Park today.

In the WBOPCA Reserve Grade Championship finale, 2016 McNaughton Trophy titleholders Sangha XI will meet Te Puke on Blake Park two.

The two championship finalists have been the big improvers of the second half of the Reserve Grade season. The Sangha XI finished middle table in the first round competition with Te Puke in eighth place.

Both teams have batsmen in their ranks who are genuine match winners. Sangha XI's GS Sandhu and Vikas Mohan, have both been in good form with the willow in the second half of the season and sit in prominent places on the batting stakes leader board.

Denym Clarke and Chris Rowe have also scored plenty of runs in the Reserve Grade title race for Te Puke with a couple of hundred runs apiece.

Sangha all-rounder GS Gagan, is a hard hitting batsman who grabbed four wickets in the McNaughton Trophy final against Katikati, to demonstrate his match-winning ability with the ball.

Te Puke's Supreet Singh is a bowler of rare ability, with his six wickets for just 12 runs earlier in the season, showcasing his bowling talent.

The B Grade title decider, matches up multiple B Grade title winners Grasshoppers with last season's championship runner-up in the Singh XI.

The WBOPCA Top Dog batting stakes, for the highest weekly total, has been taken out by a Grasshoppers and Singh XI batsman apiece during the season.

In December Ray Body grabbed the Top Dog batting award, with Hardeep Singh taking Top Dog honours in February.
