Pauanui’s water restrictions lifted

The total hose and sprinkler ban which was in place in Hahei has also been eased, and though the use of sprinklers is still banned, locals are now able to use hand-held hoses on alternate days.

Council explains that water consumption in Hahei has dropped to 80 per cent of the consented limit and reservoirs are being maintained at satisfactory levels.

In Tairua, the sprinkler ban is still in force but locals are also able to use use hand-held hoses on alternate days.

'The main reservoir level [in Tairua] is steadily recovering and was 55 per cent full on Thursday morning,” says council.

In other communities on the Coromandel – a hose and sprinkler ban is in place in Matatoki, a sprinkler ban only is in force in Whangamata and Omahu, while locals in Matarangi are allowed to use hand-held hoses on alternate days.

There are currently no water restrictions in place for Thames, Puriri, Whitianga, Pauanui, Onemana and Coromandel Town.
