The officer overseeing the crash involving Te Puke Senior Sergeant Deirdre Lack says 'quite clearly someone has contributed to this crash occurring”.
Deirdre's car and another vehicle collided on State Highway 2 early morning on December 22 last year.
Senior Sergeant Deirdre Lack is recovering at home from the crash that occurred on December 22 last year. She is pictured here alongside a scene of the wreckage from that day.
Acting Bay of Plenty road policing manager, Senior Sergeant Stuart Nightingale, says the investigation into the crash will be completed in about two weeks.
He says while the investigation so far has strongly pointed to one of the drivers being at fault, Stuart would not say if charges were likely.
'A charge would certainly be a possibility once we have had a look at all the evidence and have been able to look at the whole file.”
Deirdre has been released from Tauranga Hospital, but Stuart says she has a lengthy recovery ahead of her.
Stuart is based in Rotorua and is overseeing the investigation to provide independence.
'It is progressing very well. All of the enquiries that were required to be completed have almost been completed.
'We are anticipating bringing the matter to a resolution very soon.”

Seems a long time to find out who was at fault,3 months to figure who was on the wrong side of the road.
