There are many shining sports stars in the Bay of Plenty, Sam Cane, Kane Williams and Scott Curry are just the few who come to mind on the rugby field.
But keep Samantha Sinclair in the back of your mind when the New Year comes around.

The 20-year-old Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic netballer is an athlete who is going somewhere. With a new Silver Ferns coach (Janine Southby) usually comes new ideas and new players.
Janine can't go wrong if she chooses this youngster. She's dynamic, quick thinking and fast all the traits you want from an international centre.
As a youngster growing up in Rotorua and going to John Paul College she stood out with her red locks and jaw dropping ball skills it was easy to see this netballer had something to offer.
She was quickly snatched up by Magic coach of the time Nolene Taurua who saw something in the talented youngster and had her training with the team from an early age.
Let's hope Janine sees the potential and drafts this youngster into the squad as soon as possible.
