SH29 open following crash

UPDATED: State Highway 29, between Tauranga and Matamata, is now open to two lanes following a crash just before 1.30pm.

One vehicle is reported to have hit a bank the highway, near Kaimai Farm just past Old Kaimai Road.


One vehicle was involved in a crash on State Highway 29 on the Tauranga side of the summit.

A witness at the scene says all occupants are out of the vehicle and there appears to be no serious injuries.

It's unclear exactly how many people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Police are at the scene and are working to clear the vehicle, which is blocking one of the lanes of the highway.

People are being asked to be patient or avoid the area if possible.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Emergency services are being called to a crash on State Highway 29, by the Kaimai Deer Farm.

The crash is reported to be past Old Kaimai Road, on the Tauranga side of the summit.

It's unclear how the accident happened or how many people are involved.

Police, fire and St John Paramedics are being called to the scene.

I saw this happen if i had been split seconds sooner we would have been hit midships,she was comming down and turned her head left,(maybe checking kid)and went sideways at speed into bank flipped over and landed on wheels,A REAL OVER KILL SENDING 4 FIRETRUCKS AND BLOCKING ROAD,what a shambles,made it worse, the road was open both ways till these dipsticks turned up,thats all im going to say
