Motorists are being advised to be patient on the roads today as traffic congestion causes delays.
Police says traffic is 'crawling” at The Base in Hamilton where there have been three crashes, including a seven-car non-injury crash.

'Police request all drivers to not be distracted, and be patient if you are travelling to the Boxing Day sales,” says Senior Sergeant Andrew Townsend.
Traffic congestion is also being reported around Te Aroha as people travel to Paeroa.
The NZ Transport Agency reports that there is a queue northbound immediately prior to State Highway 2 prior to Paeroa.
'This is common for the holiday period,” says the roading agency.
Delays are expected until further notice.
Closer to home, delays are being predicted around the Mount tomorrow with road closure being put in place for the Eves Realty Surfbreaker Triathlon.
Tauranga City Council reports that Marine Parade, from Adams Avenue to Pacific Avenue, round to Maunganui Road will be closed from 6am to 11.30am tomorrow.
There are no other planned road closures for the region.
