First stop NZ for new iPhones

New Zealand is set to become one of the first countries in the world to take delivery of the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus after the devices were unveiled in San Francisco.

Apple announced the models at their annual unveiling event, with New Zealand in the first group of countries to receive the sought-after phones thanks to our time-zone.

Apple chief executive Tim Cook revealed the new versions will go on sale in NZ on September 25.

He also showcased a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro, a revamped Apple TV, including touch remote and games, and new apps for the Apple Watch.

On the outside, the latest iPhones look the same as their predecessors, but include a few new features under the hood, including iOS 9, which will also be available to download for iPhone 4S and later from September 17.

The sizes stay the same, with a 4.7-inch screen for the 6S and 5.5-inch for the 6S Plus, but the big new feature is 3D touch, or force touch as it's called on their watches and laptops.

Now, pressing the screen instead of tapping it brings an extra set of options, and the feature is being heralded as the ‘right click' of the touchscreen world. The technology detects the force of a tap and responds differently to variations in pressure.

Apple has also replaced the iPhone's camera, which now has the ability to take 4K video and 12MP photos.

The company claim it will focus faster and work better in low light. It's also improved the front-facing camera to 5MP and the ability to use the screen as a flash.

Pre-orders will be available on September 12, and prices range from $1199 (16GB) to $1599 (128GB) for the 6S, and $1399 (16GB) to $1799 (128GB) for the 6S Plus.

A new colour handset has also been revealed, with rose gold introduced along with the standard silver, gold and grey.

Apple also announced a 12.9-inch iPad Pro with two new accessories – a keyboard and stylus – to be released in New Zealand in November.

The company also announced a revamped Apple TV device which relies heavily on voice control. However, there is no 4K ability.

Apple Watch upgrades included new colours for its cases – rose gold and gold – along with a range of new straps. There were also new apps showcased including Facebook Messenger, which will appear on the device for the first time.

Some people are soo gullible buying rubbish they don't need under the premise they have to upgrade and for stupid amounts of money. Think about the environment and don't replace it till it no longer functions stop being so gullible for the marketing machine.
