A big man in rugby has donated a big cheque to help bring a community asset closer to reality.
Former All Black and co-founder of charitable foundation iSport, Ali Williams, was thrilled to give $5,000 to the Thames Rugby and Sports Club for their plan to install static exercise equipment on their sports grounds this week.

The club's plan has been two years in the making, club secretary Vaughan De Groen said. And this funding boost is a great push.

"We've still got grants pending and we're hoping to hear from those in the next couple of weeks," De Groen said.
"The aim is to have it built towards the end of the year in time for pre-season training."
The 10 static exercise stations in Rhodes Park will be available for the whole community to use, De Groen said.
"The idea is the club gets all the project work on it, gets it funded and builds it and donates it to the public.
"Its designed for free community use."
Williams, only days back from his time with French rugby club Toulon, said sport is an important part of his life.
"I'm thrilled to be able to help the club with a great community project like this."
The stations include strength and stretch bars, a pommel horse, a spring balance beam and a pair of sit-up benches, to name a few.
